The McCutchens
started out in Cooper County (purple) and migrated to Morgan County (brown).
A few took homesteads in Petis County (blue) (BLM). Many McCutchens
and Wears (JM's maternal relatives) homesteaded here. Alfred first homesteaded
in Morgan County in 1840. His older brother, James Dean, homesteaded there
in 1833. Another James, possibly their father, homsteaded in 1831. However
Alfred's parents lived in Morgan County before they homesteaded this land
because Alfred was born in Morgan County in 1805.
Below is a map of Township 45, Range 18, in the northeast corner of Morgan County which shows land homesteaded by Alfred McCutchen.
